Is the skin analysis a medical diagnosis?
No — and this is important. BeyondMolecule's skin analysis is a cosmetic assessment tool, not a medical device. It reads visible skin characteristics from your photos — oiliness, texture, pigmentation, redness — and uses these to recommend a skincare routine. It does not diagnose skin conditions, diseases, or medical issues. If you have a diagnosed skin condition such as rosacea, eczema, or acne vulgaris, please consult a dermatologist before starting a new skincare routine.
How accurate is the AI skin reading?
The accuracy depends significantly on photo quality. In good, even lighting with no filters, the AI reads oiliness, redness, texture, and pigmentation with meaningful accuracy — comparable to what a trained aesthetician would assess from photos. It is more accurate than a questionnaire because it reads your actual face, not your answers about it. It is less accurate than an in-person assessment. The three-angle capture (front, turn left, turn right) improves accuracy significantly over a single selfie.
How many free scans do I get?
Every new BeyondMolecule account includes 3 free skin analyses. After your free scans are used, additional scans are available to purchase. Your scan history is saved to your account so you can track your skin progress over time, even after your free scans are used.
Are my photos stored or shared?
Your photos are never stored. The three images you capture are sent directly for analysis and discarded immediately after your results are generated. We do not store, share, or use your facial images for any other purpose. Your skin results (score, skin type, concerns) are saved to your account so you can track progress — but never the photos themselves.
What skin types can the tool detect?
The analysis detects five skin types — Oily, Dry, Combination, Sensitive, and Normal. Combination is the most common result. The AI determines skin type by reading visual signals across all three photos — shine patterns, texture consistency, redness distribution, and pore visibility — and cross-referencing the front and side profiles to confirm the reading.
How often should I do a skin scan?
We recommend scanning once every 4–6 weeks. Your skin changes with seasons, diet, stress, hormones, and your current skincare routine. Regular scans let you track whether your routine is working and catch changes in your skin early. Scanning too frequently (daily or weekly) won't show meaningful changes — skin takes time to respond to a new routine.
Can I use the analysis if I have a skin condition?
You can use the tool, but please treat the results as general guidance only. If you have an active skin condition — eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, cystic acne, or any diagnosed condition — your results may be influenced by the condition rather than your baseline skin type. Always consult a dermatologist before introducing new actives like Vitamin C, retinol, or exfoliants to compromised or reactive skin.
What is the best lighting for the scan?
Natural light from a window is ideal — position yourself facing the light source so your face is evenly lit from the front. Avoid: overhead lighting that casts shadows under your eyes and nose, dim or yellow-toned lighting that hides skin detail, direct sunlight that overexposes the image, and flash photography that flattens texture. Good lighting is the single biggest factor in result accuracy.
Why do I need to take three photos?
A single front-facing photo can only show what is visible straight-on. The two side profile shots (turn left, turn right) reveal jawline texture, cheek depth, whether oiliness or dryness extends beyond the T-zone, and profile skin tone consistency. Together, the three angles give a much more complete picture of your skin than any single photo can provide — which is why the routine recommendations are more accurate.
Do unused scans carry over?
Yes — unused scans remain in your account
until your plan expires. Use them at your
own pace within the validity period.
Can I upgrade mid-plan?
Yes — purchasing a new plan adds scans
to your account. New daily limits apply
immediately from the higher plan.
Are payments refundable?
Scan analysis payments are non-refundable.

How is my routine personalised?
Your routine is built from your detected skin concerns — not from a generic profile. If the analysis detects oiliness and pigmentation, your routine will include oil-regulating and brightening actives. If it detects sensitivity and dryness, it will prioritise barrier repair and hydration. Each step in your routine includes a specific product recommendation, the key active ingredient, and the reason it was chosen for your skin specifically.
